Our Dolphin Preschool houses three rooms for children from 3-5 years. They’ll develop through play-based learning and exploration before going through our School Readiness Program.

Dolphins Cottage is a safe, nurturing environment for babies and toddlers to grow and interact alongside each other. Every day brings fun, exploration, and of course, lots of cuddles

We deliver various learning programs for each age group throughout the year including music and movement, science and exploration, cultural awareness, school readiness and more.

Play-Based & Structured Learning

At Dolphins Child Care Centre, we believe in providing quality care for the entire family. Through our babies, toddlers and preschool rooms we deliver a mixture of play-based and structure learning in an engaging environment. We purposefully keep our child-to-educator ratio low, enabling us to dedicate more time tending to each child’s specific needs and developing their strengths.

As a small family-owned centre, we’ve been helping raise the next generation of local children for more than 23 years. Our owner/director has more than 32 years’ experience which has helped create a safe, creative and nurturing environment. With a team of dedicated early educators—many studying at different levels—our team loves what they do, and that flows through to the care they bring to children’s development.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if a child is absent from child care?

Families are entitled to 42 absence days per child, per financial year. At Dolphins, we offer our families make-up days for any absences.

  • What is the best age to start child care?

Children are amazingly flexible and resilient, even from a young age, which means that your child will adapt to a high-quality childcare environment no matter what age they start. Having said that, there are some variables worth considering when weighing up the options, such as whether your child is comfortable in large or small group settings and whether they are likely to cope well if an educator changes.

  • What is high quality child care?

In a high-quality early childhood education and care service, your child will feel happy, safe and secure and have the opportunity to engage in a wider range of play-based learning experiences. A service’s assessment against the National Quality Standard can be a useful starting point for measuring quality. However, parents are well advised to take the time to visit a service and talk to the educators.

  • What do I need to pack for my child at Dolphins?

A packed lunch box with morning tea, lunch & afternoon tea. At Dolphins, we follow the ‘good for kids, good for life’ guidelines—so also bring a hat, a drink bottle, bedding (we suggest a fitted cot sheet and a cover for cooler weather), sleeping/rest comforters, change of clothes, nappies and milk bottles (for our younger children).

  • How do I keep my child healthy in child care?

It is a fact of life that children in group care get sick. They have increased exposure to other children and play closely with shared toys. In addition, children have lower resistance to germs than adults, due to their immature immune system. This means that many families face an almost constant barrage of illness in the first months of starting care. At Dolphins, we have clear policies around hygiene and managing outbreaks and work hard to contain the spread of germs. There’s also plenty you can do at home to support your child to stay well.

  • Do you take children with special needs?

Yes. We have several children with differing special needs. We have a strong culture of supporting children with special needs at all our centres. We have links with several support agencies. As with all children, we do understand that not every environment suits every child. We encourage you and your child to come and spend time with us so we can provide the very best experience possible for them.
